Leonard Musa Makwinja (BSc (Hons), MSc) - Chairman of the Board

Leonard Makwinja a mining engineering brains is the new BTC Board chairman taking over from Wilfred Mandlebe an economist to lead the strategic direction of Botswana Telecommunications Corporation.
     
 

Mr Thapelo Lippe - Chief Executive Officer

Thapelo has 18+ years of experience and has held positions ranging from Microsoft General Manager (13+ countries), Orange Botswana CEO / Country Manager, Orange Botswana CIO, international consultancies; had multi-region directorial responsibilities managing diverse teams and projects within varying business sectors; and, have had full Practice / Organization management responsibilities in service delivery. He continue to hone his managerial, technical, and financial skills resulting in a proven track record in delivering complex solutions / services and products in a timely and profitable manner; meeting and often exceeding shareholder and market expectation.

   
  Mr Ratsela - Member

Mr Ratsela  joined the Board in April 2006. He is currently Director of Information Technology, University of Botswana. As a member of BTC Board, Mr Mooketsi is currently the Chairman of the Tender Committee. He holds a Master of Information Technology from the University of Newcastle –Australia;  Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Telecommunications Systems Management  and Design(Anglia  Polytechnic University) ; and Bachelor of Science from the  University of Botswana.
     
 

Mr. Phazha Andrew Kgalemang - Member

Mr. Phazha Andrew Kgalemang has been appointed Director of the BTC Board in November 2007. Kgalemang is a Lawyer by profession admitted to practice Law in the Courts of Botswana in 1993 having been prosecutor since 1975. He is the founder and Managing Partner of Kgalemang and Associates established in 1996.

   
 

Mr. Michael Letsogile Mothobi - Member

Mr. Michael Letsogile Mothobi was appointed to the BTC Board of Directors on November 01, 2007.

Mr. Mothobi is an Attorney of the High Court of Botswana (admitted and enrolled on 9 November 1979); Associate Member, Botswana Association of Arbitrators; formerly, the Coordinator of and Lecturer in the Clinical Legal Education Programme, Department of Law, University of Botswana (1993-2003) who role included  teaching fourth and fifth year law students; the placement of such students and their supervision as interns in various public sector, professional and corporate establishments; the administration of the Legal Clinic responsible for the provision of free legal assistance to the indigent community. He was a member of the Board of Trustees of Ditshwanelo - a non governmental organization which champions the observance of human rights in Botswana.

   
 

Mr. Oabile Mabusa (BA, MSc -policy Analysis) - Member

Mr. Mabusa was appointed to the Board in March 2001. He is currently the Director of Banking Services at the Bank Of Botswana.

     
  Mr Mabua Lesego Mabua (BEng (Hons) Elecs Sys) - Member

Mr Mabua was appointed to the Board in April 2006 and subsequent to the year-end resigned from the Board in March 2007. He is a telecommunications engineer and works for the Ministry of Communications, Science and Technology as Director of Postal Services and Telecommunications. He attained his Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Electronics Systems Engineering at University of Essex, Colchester, UK. Prior to joining the Ministry he worked at BTC for a continuous period of twelve years in various technical positions including as Chief Engineer.

 

 

 

Ms Goitseone N Mosalakatane - Member

Ms Goitseone N Mosalakatane joined the Board of Directors in May 2009. A human resource management practitioner, Ms Mosalakatane has been the Managing Director of BothoPele Management Consultants since 2005. She served as the Country Director Institute of Development Management (Botswana) from 2003-2005, with a strong focus on strategic leadership, general management and implementation of corporate policies.
She has also worked for Botswana Housing Corporation (BHC) as Human Resource Director, formulating and updating all aspects of human resource policies, systems and procedures.
The winner of the Sir Roderick Award in Public Administration obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences in Public Administration and Political Science at the University of Botswana.
Ms Mosalakatane also holds a Masters of Science in Human Resource Development from the University of Manchester.

 

 

 

Mrs. Serty Leburu - Member

Mrs. Serty Leburu joined the BTC Board of Directors in May 2009.An accountant by profession, Mrs. Leburu is currently Executive Director- Finance and Chief Operating Officer at Standard Chartered Bank. She has broad knowledge on commercial issues and technical expertise.
Prior to joining Standard Bank, she had been part of the Diamond Mining Business for 17 years working at different levels of management .She held the position of Finance Manager at both Jwaneng mine and Botswana Diamond Valuing Company with a strong focus on commercial and business issues .
She has also worked for the mine as a Financial Accountant and Assistant Accountant. Mrs. Leburu graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Botswana and later acquired a professional qualification, CIMA.
