Ms. Lorato Boakgomo-Ntakhwana - Board Chairperson

Ms. Lorato Boakgomo-Ntakhwana is a career banker whose professional experience spans over 30 years. Her previous appointment was Deputy CEO of FNB International and Portfolio Executive for Emerging Countries. Prior to this role, she was the CEO of First National Bank of Botswana Limited.She has been associated with the FirstRand group since August 2008 where she served as a Board member and Board Committee member in several countries. Currently she is the Managing Director of Sally Dairy.Ms. Boakgomo-Ntakhwana has a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Botswana and an MBA from Loyola College in Baltimore USA, and holds several professional qualifications.

Ms Choice Pitso – Member (Chairperson- Human Resource Remuneration and Nomination Committee)

Ms Pitso, is Head of Human Resources at Metropolitan Botswana. Previously she was Human Resources Manager at Debswana, Jwaneng Mine and has over 15 years diverse industry experience as Human Resources Manager in various organizations with a stint in Public Relations. She led a transformational strategy of the Botswana Agricultural Marketing Board as the HR lead during its restructuring and worked in Metropolitan Life Insurance (Botswana) as both Human Resources and Public Relations Manager. She also briefly worked for Laurelton Diamonds Botswana, a diamond polishing company and a subsidiary of Tiffany & Company, before joining Debswana Mining Company. Her experience includes development and implementation of human resources strategies across human resources functional areas such as Human Resources Operations Management, Talent & Change Management, Rewards Management and Employee Relations as well as provision of HR internal consultancy. She holds MSc Human Resource Management from the University of Manchester UK, a BA Social Sciences from the University of Botswana. She is also a professional member and served as a Publicity Secretary at Botswana Institute of Human Resources Management (IHRM)..

Mrs. Serty Leburu - Member

Mrs. Serty Leburu joined the BTC Board of Directors in 2009.An accountant by profession;Mrs. Leburu is currently Executive Director at Botswana Accountancy College. She was previously a Deputy Chief Executive Officer-Support Services at Botswana Housing Corporation. She served as Deputy Chief Executive Officer at Standard Chartered Bank of Botswana before joining BHC. Prior to joining Standard Chartered Bank, she had been part of the Diamond Mining Business for 17 years working at different levels of management. She held the position of Finance Manager at both Jwaneng mine and Botswana Diamond Valuing Company with a strong focus on commercial and business issues . She is an expert in financial matters with broad experience in all areas of strategy, finance, governance, supplier chain, risk management, general administration, leadership, recreation and corporate real estate. Mrs. Leburu graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Botswana and later acquired a professional qualification, CIMA.

Mr. Maclean C. Letshwiti - Member

Mr. Letshwiti is a respected entrepreneur whose expertise spans business management, commercial and industrial development, and project appraisal and monitoring.He was instrumental in setting up the Avis Rent a Car.Mr. He is currently a Director of several companies namely; Kalahari Mining and Machinery, Laurelton Diamonds Botswana a subsidiary of Tiffany and Co, a company listed on the New York Stock Exchange, and Avis Rent A Car. He has served on a number of Boards of listed companies including Botswana Insurance Holdings Limited which he was Chairman.He was also a board member of Botswana Housing Corporation among other entities. Mr. Letshwiti holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Administration from the University of Botswana and Swaziland (Botswana Campus) and other professional and leadership qualifications.

Mr. Andrew Johnson-Member

Mr Johnson is a Telecommunications expert whose career in the industry spans over 30 years, with a special focus on mobile telecommunications and fibre infrastructure development. He is currently a Principal consultant at Tubitayeho Telecomms Consulting in South Africa. He was previously a Director for MTN subsidiaries in Cameroon, Cote d’Ivoire, Nigeria, and Uganda He has worked as Chief Technical Officer for the MTN Group, Chief Executive Officer for MTN Rwanda, and Chief Technical officer for MTN Uganda. He was previously a Senior Telecommunications Engineer for Eskom. Mr. Johnson has extensive consultancy and project management experience within Sub-Saharan Africa and beyond. Mr Johnson holds a Bsc (Eng) Electrical – Light Current, from the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa with a specialization in Telecommunications and Alternative Energies.

Mr. Ranjith Priyalal De Silva- Member

Mr De Silva is a Chartered Accountant whose expertise covers Auditing, Accounting, Tax Planning, Financial Investigations and Fiscal Management. Now retired, he has over 36 years’ experience in the profession mainly spent at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Botswana where he was partner for 19 years and Chief Operating Officer for nine years. While still with PWC Botswana, he served a large portfolio of Audit/Tax clients and provided Business Advisory Services too many large privately-owned corporates in Botswana. Mr De Silva is an independent non-executive director for three Old Mutual Subsidiaries in Botswana and Debt Participation Capital Funding Limited. He is a member of numerous professional bodies including, Associate member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants of UK and Fellow member of the Botswana Institute of Chartered Accountants and the Institute of Charted Accountants of Sri Lanka.


Mr.Pheko is the founding Chief Executive and Board Member of Botswana Communications Regulatory Authority (BOCRA). He served as Chief Executive of the Botswana Telecommunications Authority (BTA) for six years prior. He managed the transition of BTA from the then sector specific regulator to BOCRA which has a wider integrated Information Communication Technology (ICT) regulatory mandate. He is Board member of the Choppies Boitumelo Foundation and was recently nominated Commissioner of the Botswana National Commission for United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO). He has served in a number of ICT consultancies and has held several directorships in private companies including State Owned Enterprises (SEOs) such as Botswana Post and Botswana Couriers. Mr. Pheko holds a B.Sc. (Hons) in Business Finance and Economics and a M.Sc. in Management Information System both from the University of East Anglia, UK. He has also attended numerous Executive Management Programs.


Mr. Molomo is Co-founder and Managing Partner at Aleyo Capital, a Botswana-based private equity fund manager. He was previously the Chief Investment Officer at the Botswana Development Corporation (BDC) having joined BDC from Vantage Capital – a leading mezzanine fund manager based in Johannesburg and operating across Sub-Saharan Africa. At Vantage Capital, Mr. Molomo was a Senior Associate originating and structuring deals in South Africa, Botswana, Namibia and Mozambique. Prior to that he was with Venture Partners Botswana as a senior investment professional in their private equity team in Botswana and Namibia. Mr Molomo who began his career as an investment analyst and has extensive experience in private equity, corporate finance, strategy and project finance, has held a number of Board roles in Hospitality, Healthcare, ICT, Property, Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FCMG) and Beverage companies.He holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Economics and Finance) and an Master of Business Admiration (MBA) both from the University of Cape Town. He also earned a Post-graduate Diploma in Business from the University of Pretoria’s Gordon Institute of Business Science.
