As a dynamic communications company, BTC has realized the need to frog leap Batswana into the information age through the internet. The packaged internet solutions are offered to the nation through strategic partnerships with internet service providers commonly known as ISPs. BTC has developed products, which are owned by BTC, but offered through ISPs and those that are branded by BTC but owned by ISPs.

Subscription Free Internet

For people who are just starting up and wanting to try out the internet and those who use internet sparsely, there is Subscription Free Internet (SFI). This product is packaged by the ISPs with each individual ISP customizing its product. SFI is marketed by the ISPs with help from BTC, to make sure that customers are well aware of this product. With SFI the customer only pays for usage and never has to worry about a monthly subscription to the ISP. SFI is a low-end internet product, which offers convenience to the low users and start up users.

Fast Access

Through strategic partnerships with ISPs, BTC has also developed a range of products collectively referred to as fast access. This product is aimed at the business and high­ end residential customers who spend a considerable amount of time on-line. Fast access is an internet connection offered over an ISDN BRA line at 64 kbps. For a customer with requirements for an even faster connection it is possible to bundle the channels together to get 128 kbps. The fast access products make ISDN more affordable and give the customer the privilege of paying a flat fee every month. The customer also enjoys the convenience of having two phone numbers that allow for simultaneous internet connection and voice call. BTC has currently developed strategic partnerships with Virtual Business Network Solutions, Mega and Botsnet in the provision of this service, and more service providers are expected to come on board.

The fast access products on offer are:

• Fast Access 15 (hours) - P250
• Fast Access 30 (hours) - P450
• Fast Access 60 (hours) - P750
• Fast Access 120 (hours) - P1200

The hours reflect the number of planned minutes and the Pula amount refers to the cost of the package. If a customer stays within the planned hours then there will never be any additional fees.
